Vuoden 2012 albumit

Vuosi on vaihtunut. On siis aika summata vuoden 2012 albumeita. Tein erittäin pitkän listan.

Vuoden aikana ostin (tai sain) yhteensä 226 albumia, joko ceedeenä tai vinyylinä. Se on enemmän kuin ostos joka toinen päivä. Parina päivänä viikossa on ”ei albumiostoa” -päivä, kun taas muina päivinä shoppailu on in. Ymmärrettävästi tällä tahdilla ei ehdi kuuntelemaan kovin perusteellisesti ostoksiaan. Lisäksi suurin osa hankkimistani albumeista on ilmestynyt ennen kulunutta vuotta. Uutuuksia tuli kuitenkin kuunneltua myös Spotifysta, joten listalla on myös albumeita, joita ei levyhyllystäni löydy.

Huono puoli kuluneessa vuodessa oli se, ettei mikään levy kolahtanut ihan sillä tavalla kuin toivoisi. Paljon julkaistiin hyviä albumeita, mutta mikään niistä ei saanut aikaan sellaista mysterium tremendum et fascinansia, josta jokainen musadiggari haaveilee.

Kategorisointi on hieman hutera, mutta niinhän se aina menee: vuoden päästä ihmettelen, miksi tuo mainio albumi on laitettu lista häntäpäähän ja miksi tuo keskinkertaisuus tuli nostettua niin korkealle.

Ehkä lista on kuin jalkapallon Mestareiden liigan arvontakorijärjestelmä – ennen pisteitä keränneet pääsevät parempaan koriin vanhoilla meriiteillä, kun taas uusille tulokkaille tikkaita kapuaminen on vaivalloisempaa.

Ja mitä jäi ulkopuolelle:

Tom Waitsin tuorein levy julkaistiin jo viime vuonna, mutta en ole vieläkään kuullut sitä. Bob Dylanin uutta (The Tempest) en ole toistaiseksi kuunnellut.

Entäs ikisuosikit? Frank Black osallistui neroudellaan vaimonsa projektiin Grand Duchy. Pariskunnan ensimmäinen yhteisalbumi oli oikein mainio, mutta Let the People Speak on niin huono, että edes minä en ole ostanut sitä. Pari kuuntelukertaa Spotifysta on ollut enemmän kuin riittävästi. Luke Haines osallistui The North Sea Scrolls projektiin, joka tehtiin Edinburghin festivaaleille. Pitihän sekin saada levylle. Laitoin sen listalle, kärkipäähän vanhasta muistista, mutta ei se oikeasti ole merkittävä teos.

Vuosi oli siitä poikkeuksellinen, ettei The Fall julkaissut uutta albumia. Ersatz GB julkaistiin jo marraskuussa 2011.

Suomalaiset jäivät taas ulkopuolelle. Pidin kyllä Samuli Putron levystä Tavalliset hautajaiset. Ja tulihan sitä kuunneltua Uhrijuhlaa, Laivuetta, Hel-Gatorsia, Hexvesseliä ja muitakin vesseleitä. Sitten se Tuomas Kauhasen biisi feat. Elastinen & Cheek nauratti: ”Miksi naiset rakastuu renttuihin? Mä en tiedä mut se sopii mulle.” Öh, höh, höö.

Jälleen kerran albumivuosikatsaus heijastelee varsin huonosti sitä, mitä oikeastaan kuuntelin. Genremielessä lista on kapea, kun vuosi sisälsi paljon uutta tutustumista progeen, bluesiin, valtavirtarokkiin, glampoppiin ja harvinaisiin 1950-luvun helmiin.
